Getting to know me :)
My name is Mariam Jimoh, I am a political science major with a minor in psychology. My ultimate goal is to become a criminal defense lawyer and to own my own law firm. I grew up in a single parent immigrant home, so I learned early on the significance of perseverance and hard work. Experiences growing up only enforced my own hopeless determination and inspired me to fight for those experiences, who deal with the oppressive, systemic opportunities. Recently I became increasingly invested in representing people of color, later realizing they continue to be significantly affected by widespread mass incarceration. My recent academic career has also amplified this passion. Especially my experience with schooling law and criminal law. Both Constitutional Law and Criminal Justice Policy demonstrated that systemic inequality is not an accident of coincidence, and incited me to be a part of the solve.
